Planes, Trains and Automobiles: Part I

Last month Dave and I went to Europe. We pretty much experienced The Amazing Race without the video cameras and the million dollar prize... but we had a ton of fun! Our first stop was Venice, Italy. We loved all the architecture and the canals.

After about five hours we left Venice and headed through the Alps to Austria. We stayed in the cutest little hostel in Innsbruck and wished we could have stayed longer in this little town.

The next day we left early and drove up into Germany to visit the prison camp in Dachau. Dave and I have a slight facination with WWII. It was a very humbling experience to stand in a place that held so many innocent prisoners who were treated so horribly.

The Ovens

We were lucky enough to see a few survivors of the camp.

After we left the prison camp we headed out to see a couple of castles in Germany. The first one we saw is the Disney castle. This is the castle that inspired Disney's Sleeping Beauty castle. It is called Schloss Neuschwanstein, which means Neuschwanstein Castle.

This is the bridge we stood on to take the previous photo... it's scarier looking at the bridge after you've stood on it!

Schloss Hohenschwanstein, which means Hohenschwangau Castle.

We didn't have time to go through this castle but have decided to live here anyway, nestled in the Alps. Isn't it beautiful?
